We collect personal information that you voluntarily provide when you register on the app or contact us. This may include:

Information collected automatically

When you use Green Light Social, we automatically collect certain information including:

• Device information (device type, operating system)
• IP address and approximate location
• App usage data and interactions
• GPS location when you go live at a venue (only while the app is in use and you are actively checked in)
• Crash reports and performance data

Location data

Green Light Social uses your location to enable the core feature of the app — checking in at nearby venues and seeing who else is live. Your precise GPS coordinates are never shared with other users. Other users only see your approximate distance (e.g. "1.2km away"). Location data is only collected while you are actively using the app and have gone live at a venue.

2. How do we process your information?

We process your personal information to:

• Create and manage your account
• Enable the core matching and venue check-in features
• Show your profile to other users when you go live
• Facilitate waves, matches, and chat between users
• Send you notifications about waves and matches
• Respond to your support requests
• Detect and prevent fraud and abuse
• Improve and develop the app
• Comply with legal obligations

3. When and with whom do we share your information?

We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information in the following limited circumstances:

Other users

When you go live, your profile information (name, age, photos, bio, suburb) is visible to other users in the app. Your exact location is never shared — only your approximate distance.

Service providers

We work with trusted third-party providers to operate our services:

• Railway — backend hosting
• MongoDB — database
• Mapbox — map display
• Apple — payment processing (if applicable)
• Firebase — push notifications

Legal requirements

We may disclose your information if required by law, court order, or to protect the safety of our users or the public.

4. How long do we keep your information?

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymise your personal information within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or compliance purposes.

5. How do we keep your information safe?

We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information, including:

• JWT authentication tokens stored in encrypted device storage
• HTTPS encryption for all data in transit
• Secure backend hosted on Railway
• Rate limiting and abuse detection
• Venue-only check-in requirement to prevent location stalking

No system is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee that your information will never be accessed by unauthorised parties, but we take every reasonable step to protect it.

6. Do we collect information from minors?

Green Light Social is intended for users 18 years of age and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we become aware that a minor has created an account, we will delete the account and associated data immediately. Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
